The Minnesota Professional Chapter of SPJ is planning to plunge into one of journalism’s most provocative topics — objectivity — at Minnesota Public Radio’s UBS Forum in downtown St. Paul.
The event will feature as lead panelist Stephen Ward, acting director and associate professor of journalism at the University of British Columbia’s Graduate School of Journalism. Ward is author of The Invention of Journalism Ethics: The Path to Objectivity and Beyond. The forum is moderated by MPR Midmorning host Kerri Miller.

Deadline has been extended to MARCH 31. Minnesota SPJ is pleased to accept applications for the 2007 Journalism Scholarship. The chapter will award two scholarships of $2000 each to Minnesota post-secondary students studying journalism. Download Application (PDF)

Gary Hill, long-time KSTP-TV journalist and a steadfast SPJ leader is leaving television after more than 30 years in the business. Hill moves to a new job with the Minnesota Senate. He’s decided his new duties prevent him from adequately carrying out his commitment to the SPJ chapter’s board of directors so he is stepping down. The remaining board members honored Hill’s many years of leadership with a resolution. The board will appoint a replacement to fill out his term.

The Minnesota SPJ Chapter recognizes the best our state’s news organizations have to offer with the annual Page One Awards. We are currently taking contest entries through February 2nd from newspapers, magazines, weekly news publications, and television and radio newsrooms.
