The Society of Professional Journalists has awarded a $500 grant to the Minnesota Professional SPJ chapter for a program discussing ethics and standards for online media sites.
Joan Gilbertson, president of the Minnesota chapter, said the program is expected to be held early next year in the Twin Cities. It will be a community-wide forum, open to the public.

The Minnesota Pro Chapter recently received two national chapter awards at the SPJ National Convention in Washington, D.C. The Society recognized the Minnesota Pro Chapter as an Outstanding Large Chapter of the Year. Up to three large and three small professional chapters are selected for overall excellence in supporting SPJ’s missions, members and the profession.
The Society also honored the chapter with a Circle of Excellence Award for professional development and continuing-education programs. Circle of Excellence Awards are given annually for outstanding work during the preceding year.
