2012 Page One Awards Banquet Set for June 19th; Rebecca Jarvis to be Keynote Speaker

The Minnesota Society of Professional Journalists cordially invites you to attend the 2012 Page One Awards Banquet, honoring the best in Minnesota journalism from 2011.

Our keynote speaker will be Rebecca Jarvis, co-host of “CBS This Morning: Saturday” and business/economics correspondent for CBS News. Jarvis, a Minneapolis native, began working for CBS News in 2010. Prior to that, she worked as a business journalist for CNBC, Crain’s Chicago Business, and Business 2.0. Jarvis is a 2003 graduate of the University of Chicago.

Place: Town & Country Club

Time: Reception begins at 5:00 p.m.
Dinner served at 6:00 p.m.

The Page One Awards honor the best in journalism from across the state. At this event, we will also present awards to our Minnesota SPJ Student Scholarship recipients and the 2012 Peter S. Popovich Award, MN SPJ’s most prestigious award, honoring a person or organization that exemplifies the fight for First Amendment Rights.

We will also hold our fourth annual SPJ Page One Silent Auction to benefit our student scholarship fund. Come prepared to bid on some great items for a great cause! Proceeds allow Minnesota SPJ to award scholarships to Minnesota students studying to enter the field of journalism.
