From covering mass shootings to daily crime stories, reporting on traumatic events can be challenging for journalists, professionally and personally. Join CCTV anchor Mike Walter and Star Tribune reporter Paul McEnroe — both former Ochberg fellows with the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma — as they discuss reporting on traumatic events. They will be joined by local psychologist Jenna Bemis and State Patrol trooper Dan Lewis to talk about how they, although in a different professions with different objectives, also interview people after traumatic events and cope personally with the job’s emotional stress.

The event is free and open to all journalists, including those attending the Midwest Journalism Conference. Hors d’oeuvres and beverages will also be provided.

Parking is available in the Church Street parking garage on campus, a short walk to the Murphy Hall auditorium.

This event is sponsored by the Minnesota Society of Professional Journalists and the Minnesota Journalism Center.  The 2014 Midwest Journalism Conference kicks off on Friday morning in Bloomington.  For more information and to register, visit: http://midwestjournalism.com/
