The West Central Tribune, located in Willmar in the heart of Minnesota’s turkey growing sector, extensively covered last year’s avian influenza outbreak that devastated the state’s turkey flocks. Earlier this month, reporter Tom Cherveny looked ahead to this year’s growing season. The takeaway: despite the havoc wreaked by the outbreak, turkey growers are cautiously optimistic.
